Water taxis Bangkok and the Chao Phraya River
Bangkok water taxis, Thailand
Water Taxis: The city of Bangkok boasts of a good network of ferries and water taxis that help you go around from one place to another and explore the charms of the city from another angle altogether.
The Chao Phraya River runs through the middle of the city and during the 19th century, there were many big and small canals that were dug up at various places in the river so as to form an intricate water transport infrastructure. Though most of the canals have been replaced by roads there are still many that can be glimpsed while traveling by water taxis plying on the river Chao Phraya.
Along with ferries and boats, water taxis are also one of the most widely used mode of transport in the city. These river taxis act as both ferries that transport people across the river as well as a transport system that runs up to the suburb of Nonthaburi.
